Report: “Wall-E” named Best Picture of the Year by the Los Angeles Film Critics…

The Los Angeles Film Critics Assn. has named “Wall-E”, an animated film about a robot made by Disney/Pixar, “Best Picture of the Year”. For them, this is the first time an animated movie has been named “Best Picture”. “The Dark Knight” is the runners up.

See the rest of the winners here:

Is this a sign that “Wall-E” could get Best Picture nomination for the Oscars and it could actually win? That’s why this year’s Oscars is so unpredictable.

“Wall-E” does look amazing and I’ve been dyin’ to see it ever since it first came out in theater but I never did. I did put the “Wall-E” DVD on my Christmas wishlist so hopefully I’ll get “Wall-E” under the Christmas tree also. “Wall-E” looks like a great flick and can’t wait to see it.

Report: “The Dark Knight” musical score back in the race for the Oscars!!!! :-)

A month ago, the AMPAS disqualified “The Dark Knight” from getting a chance at a nomination, due to five names being listed as composers on the cue sheets.

The AMPAS reviewed it’s information again after being submitted by it’s affective parties, now they are letting “The Dark Knight” get a chance at a nomination. They came to a realization that Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard are the creators of the musical score, not the other three that were named on the cue sheets.

Dark Horizons  reports:

GREAT NEWS!!!!! 🙂 “The Dark Knight” music score is amazing and it deserves a nomination. Now it’s been accepted for a nomination, I’m sure it will get the nomination. “The Dark Knight” will probably get a nomination on every category.

Speaking of “The Dark Knight”, the DVD/Blu Ray is being released in stores everywhere today. I won’t get my copy today since the Holidays are near, I’ll probably get it under the Christmas tree.

Report: Twentieth Century Fox acquires rights to Alex Greven’s “How to Talk to Girls” to be made into a movie…

If you want advice and having trouble picking up girls of your dreams, ask this little guy pictured above and he’ll teach you how to talk to girls better. Since the 9 year old author recently published a book with Harper Collins titled, “How to Talk to Girls”, is creating controversy in the media. Twentieth Century Fox,  just nabbed the rights to make the book into a film for the big screen.

Fox hasn’t yet hired a writer or a producer but they already have a plot idea…where Alex Greven is writing the book for a class assignment for his third grade class, to help classmates break the ice with the opposite sex.

You could probably get the first four editions for $9.99 each at bookstores everywhere. The books are not only for children, it’s for men of all ages.

Variety Reports:

Fox is probably going to get Alex Greven to play himself in the movie, I’ll bet your money on it.

This kid is never going to be single when he gets older though. I see him being a big time womanizer and a “playa” whenever he turns 18. Women will be all over him.

Report: Harrison Ford to star in comedy directed by J.J. Abrams and hints at returning to the Jack Ryan role…

Harrison Ford, just announced that he will soon be working on a comedy film with director, J.J. Abrams. It is said that the J.J. Abrams comedy is the same writers who wrote the movie, “The Devil Wears Prada”. Keep in mind, that Harrison Ford starring in comedies is nothing new to him. Some of Ford’s comedies includes: “Working Girl”, “Sabrina”, “Six Days, Seven Nights”, “K-19 The Widowmaker”, and “Hollywood Homicide”. He may either work on the comedy next or the new drama which is about the pharmaceutical industry (Ford is probably reffering to that movie “Crowley”).

Later in this article, Ford is saying that he is very interested in making a return to the Jack Ryan character. A character that author Tom Clancy created. Ford starred as Jack Ryan in both “Patriot Games” and “Clear and Present Danger”.

MTV Movies Blog reports:

http://moviesblog.mtv.com/2008/12/08/harrison-ford-joins-jj-abrams-comedy-weighs-another-jack-ryan-film/

I have been wanting Harrison to return to the Jack Ryan role for a long time. It’s fantastic to see that Harrison’s grown interest into playing that character again, when he didn’t have a heart in going back to Jack Ryan in the past. The film makers will definitely give him the Jack Ryan role again as long as he wants it, so I see it definitely happening for sure. 🙂

“Patriot Games” is one of my favorite films of all times. It’s a great action thriller.

Thought: I actually want to see “Valkyrie”…

I know I said I hated Tom Cruise and refuse to see any movie that stars the man, well, I lied. I had grown into wanting to see “Valkyrie” that stars Tom Cruise. The only thing is, I’m not seeing the movie for him. I’m seeing the movie ’cause Bryan Singer is one of my favorite film makers, plus the film has Terence Stamp in it.

The plot to “Valkyrie” is also very interesting. The film comes out Dec. 25th. I’ll probably see it the day after Christmas ’cause I go to the movies every year the day after Christmas. Could get this film get the Oscar nod for “Best Picture”? It could, never know. The Oscars are always unpredictable every year.

I’m looking forward to seeing “Valkyrie” and I’ll review it of course. It’ll probably be the final film I’ll see in the year 2008.

BREAKING NEWS: Catherine Hardwicke WILL NOT direct “New Moon”!!!

Female director; Catherine Hardwicke, who directed “Twilight”, has parted ways with Summit Entertainment, that she will NOT direct the sequel, “New Moon”. Although, the film was very successful and pulled in $138.6 million, the reason for Hardwicke not doing the next film is that she wanted to rush it. She wanted the film done quickly. Summit Entertainment did not want that.

Summit wanted to take their time with the sequel “New Moon” because the next one will require a lot of CGI work, due to the werewolves being the main thing about the film. Summit did not fire her. They do not have any negative grudges. It was a decision agreed with the both of them.

Melissa Rosenberg; however, is still the writer.

http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117997013.html?categoryid=13&cs=1

This is great news actually. While I did like the “Twilight” film, I’ll admit that the film still needed a lot of work and I felt it was rushed.

They should get a male director for the next one. They should get a horror director that knows a lot about vampires and werewolves since “New Moon” will have both.

Summit should give “New Moon” to M. Night Shyamalan to direct. You know that director for “The Sixth Sense”, “Unbreakable” and “Signs”? Sam Raimi isn’t a bad choice either.

Give the Twilight series to a really good male director to improve the franchise. Especially if they’re going to use a lot of CGI for “New Moon” like they said, getting a male director is the best thing to do. Male directors know the CGI stuff more than the women directors.

Looking forward to see who the director is going to be.  Hope it’s somebody good! I hope they don’t give it to Bret Ratner, that’s what I’m worried about.

Report: Miley Cyrus set to star in “Adventures in Babysitting” the sequel…

Slutty Cyrus, has announced, she is set to star in the sequel to the 1987 comedy film, “Adventures in Babysitting” that starred Elisabeth Shue. No word on who the director is and what the plot will be for the sequel. This isn’t a remake from the 1987 film, it is a sequel.

More on it here:

Expect the media to hype this one up a lot more than “Twilight”.

I wonder if Elizabeth Shue herself will reprise role as Chris Parker for the sequel? They should get Elizabeth back if they want to make the film to work and they need to bring back Vincent D’ Onofrio as Thor. If they can bring those two back in the film, then it would give people a reason to see it and the film would have more of an audience than just little tweens.

Report: “The Dark Knight” rises to serious contender…

When “The Dark Knight” was first released earlier this summer, everyone was hoping for Heath Ledger to get an Oscar award for Best Supporting Actor, it looks like the film may just get more than that. The film is getting very close to getting a nomination for “Best Picture”, “Best Director for Christopher Nolan”, and even Christian Bale is considered for “Best Male In a Leading Role”. Expect the film to get more nominations like “Best Sound”, “Best Editing”, “Best Costuming”, etc.

The only nomination “The Dark Knight” will NOT get is for “Best Musical Score”, remember the Academy disqualified them for the musical score.

If “The Dark Knight”, “Frost/Nixon”, “Milk” and “Benjamin Button” do get nominated for “Best Picture” this year, which they probably will, this will be quite an interesting competition!!

I just know “The Dark Knight” will sweep everything and make history! A comic book superhero film never made the Oscars before and this could be the first time! Lets hope it will be the first time. I would be thrilled if “The Dark Knight” sweeps the Oscars as it would be amazing. If “Lord of the Rings: Return of the King” can do it, so can “The Dark Knight”.

I don’t see “Milk” winning it ’cause that film is about a gay politician and if that film “Milk” gets “Best Picture” award, it could create controversy in the media. I don’t see “Frost/Nixon” winning “Best Picture” because Ron Howard seems to be hogging the Oscars everytime he makes a film, time to give someone else a chance. I don’t think Fincher’s “Benjamin Button” is even worthy of an award.

This is why I think “The Dark Knight” is going to win it no matter who is nominated. I sure can’t wait to see the official nominations. Since the Oscars is on Feb. 22nd of ’09, we’ll get the nominations at the end of January since “The Dark Knight” is coming back out in theaters that month. “The Dark Knight” will win Best Picture for 2009, mark my words.

Report: Nicole Kidman does not apologize for her failed movie career…

In this article, actress Nicole Kidman admits to the public that most of her films are flops. She also admits to having bad taste when choosing films to star in by saying that some of her movies are mainstream hits and some of them are not. She doesn’t seem upset by her failed movie career because she either does the films if she either 1) Likes the script herself 2) Just does it for the love of acting 3) Does the films for the money alone… or it could be a little of all three!!!

She is not sure what she’ll do in her future acting career because she is planning to have more children with her country star husband, Keith Urban. Is this a hint that she is planning on backing out on Hollywood too? Her favorite role is being a Mom and that’s her first priority.

More on it here:

http://omg.yahoo.com/blogs/goddess/nicole-kidmans-favorite-role/146?nc

Whether her films bomb or not, she is still a talented actress, I love a lot of her films. Just because movies flop in the box office, doesn’t mean a film is bad.

Her in “Cold Mountain” is probably one of my favorite movies she’s ever starred in, I remember seeing it in theater when it first came out.

I’ll wait for DVD on “Australia”, I’m not that excited to see it in theater.
