Is Sly losing credibility when trying to cast for, “The Expendables” movies??? I would say yes…

While I do like and appreciate Sly Stallone, I’m slowly starting to lose my respect for the man. I think the guy is kind of delusional and messed up a little bit. For the first two Expendables movies, Sly has tried to confirm many different cast members and then they denied about being casted. For example, Sly has done this to Nicolas Cage a couple of times. Other actors/actresses such as Brittany Murphy, Sigourney Weaver, Sandra Bullock, Carl Weathers, Kurt Russel, Steven Seagal, and most recently Mel Gibson.

I felt that Bruce Willis didn’t deserve that attack by Sly on twitter. It was pretty uncalled for. Willis didn’t deserve to be called, “Greedy”, and “Lazy”, when Sly is pretty much the same thing. Sly has hypocrite written all over his face. Maybe Bruce bailed out ’cause he had his own reasons? Maybe Bruce had other film commitments? Maybe Bruce exited out of the EXP3 ’cause of creative differences? Maybe Bruce wanted to get paid more? Before Sly hired Jean Claude Van Damme to star in “EXP2”, Sly and JCVD had a bit of public feud going on. Then they quickly reconciled and Jean Claude is officially in “EXP2” as you can see.

If Sly keeps up his bullshit, I’m probably gonna lose my respect for the man for good. I’ll admit, he is a bit of a whack job at times. I’ll sell all of his movies on DVD/Bluray that I own in my collection if he keeps it up, I’ll be done with him, I’m serious. I’ll give him another chance, though.

Sly needs to show respect for the actors who work for him. No wonder him and Arnold haven’t gotten along over the years before they reconciled ’cause Sly’s a bit of an egomaniac himself.

Sly wants to be the leading star in all of the Expendables movies and have the most screen time more than the other actors, and he always wants his photo front & center on the posters/DVD/Bluray covers. It’s all about Sly.

To be quite honest with ya, Sly wouldn’t have been back in the mainstream again if it weren’t for The Expendables movies. That’s the reason he wants to have films full of iconic stars ’cause he knew that it would help make his career big again. When Sly tries other movies such as “Bullet to the Head”, it flopped in the box office pretty much. Sly can’t do anything else outside of action movies and tough guy actors. That’s why he continues to stay in that genre.

Maybe that one reader is right, that it’s time for Sly to hang it up and retire. I’ll admit that half of his movies over the years are pretty much garbage. “Judge Dredd” was one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen. So was “Driven”, “Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot”, “Oscar”, “The Specialist”, etc. I just respected Sly for his work for Rocky and Rambo like most fans. Honestly, that’s all he’ll ever be good at. I will also admit that Sly is not the best director and screenwriter in the world either.

I honestly have more respect for Arnold than Sly, really. Think I’ve about had it with Sly. He’s getting really weird and his twitter shows it. If you’ve noticed, I haven’t been posting about Sly all that much as I used to.

Sly and Bruce Willis not getting along? That’s why Harrison Ford was brought in for “EXP3”???

Sylvester Stallone, revealed some shocking news that Bruce Willis is out of the Expendables 3 and Harrison Ford is taking his place. Then Sly publicly slammed Bruce on twitter by calling him, “Greedy” and “Lazy”. So something must be going on between the two.

Check out Sly’s twitter page, here.

Sly and Bruce have been friends for many years. They run Planet Hollywood chains together. It’s looking like they aren’t getting along anymore. Well, that’s what you get when you make movies that are full of iconic stars. Ego’s will get in the way and that’s what it’s all about, in my opinion. I do love Sly and all but sometimes I feel he can be a bit of a dick to his stars. I’ll never forget how he treated Van Damme before they reconciled. Sly has a bit of an ego problem himself sometimes.

It is good news that Harrison is on board for the next EXP’s film, though. I always wanted to see him and Sly star in a movie together.

I wonder what Bruce will have to say about this. I’m sure he’ll respond soon when the media bugs him about it.

Report: Say what? Sylvester Stallone is set to play Rocky one more time??? Seems like it’s for real!!!!

Sly maybe done with the Rocky series but he never said anything about retiring the character for good! There’s a spinoff movie coming from the Rocky franchise. A film called, “Creed”, which will focus on the life of Apollo Creed’s grandson. MGM studios is setting Ryan Coogler to direct and Michael B. Jordan to play the grandson of Apollo. Sylvester Stallone is set to reprise his role as Rocky Balboa for the 7th time.

The story will be about Appolo’s grandson wanting to become a boxing champion much like his grandfather, Appolo, but he doesn’t have to and his family doesn’t want him to. So he goes for Rocky Balboa who is a retired boxer and becomes a mentor for Apollo’s grandson (Rocky will be his possible trainer too, I bet?).

MGM studios must of gotten Sly’s written permission to make this movie since Sly fully owns the rights to the Rocky franchise. So Sly himself must be all for this film! I’m all for Sly playing Rocky one more time. He deserves another shot since, “Rocky Balboa”, the last Rocky film was kind of a disappointment and a let-down. “Rocky Balboa” was a good movie, don’t get me wrong but could have been a better film.

Sly has been talking about bringing Rambo back to the big screen for one last time!

I’m definitely looking forward to the “Creed” film and looking forward to seeing what they’re gonna do with it! I wonder if they’ll bring back Burt Young to play Paullie again as well?

Happy 67th birthday Sly!!!

382847_10150358867998131_1074598677_n

I’m a day late on this but yesterday was Sylvester Stallone’s birthday. Here I am posing for a photo with Sly’s star at the Hollywood Walk of Fame. YES, I really went to Hollywood, C.A. a few years ago. Went to the Hollywood Blvd., went to see the Griffith Park Observatory, saw the Hollywood sign, and all kinds of fun stuff.

I didn’t get to meet Sly in person but seeing his star on the Walk of Fame is probably the closest I’ll ever get to him.

He really is a hero and inspiration to me.

While the man had his struggles and problems in his life… you can’t deny that he is a legend no matter what you think of him. He brought us the Rocky and Rambo movies — now the Expendables. He’s done other great movies such as “Cliffhanger”, “Cop Land”, “Cobra”, “Get Carter”, “Over the Top”, “Paradise Alley”, etc.

Don’t get me wrong, though, he has done some pretty bad films. I’m not a fan of all of them… I would probably hate half of them too such as garbage like “Driven”, “Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot”, “Rhinestone”, “Daylight”, “The Specialist”, “Judge Dredd”, etc.

I’ll have to admit that the man is horrible at choosing films and the man himself even admits it. I think he’s being more careful choosing his upcoming films as you can tell. He’s been making his choices pretty wisely this time around so he doesn’t get himself into another career slump. It’s great to see Sly being a successful actor again.

I not only respect Sly for his movies… I respect him for his fitness, he’s a businessman (he owns parts of Planet Hollywood chains), an artist/painter, etc. He’s a pretty talented guy in everything he does.

I never got to meet Sly in person yet but I do have an autographed framed photo of Rocky IV that he signed and sent to me in the mail.

Also, I think Sly is heading toward retirement in film. As you can see, he’s slowing down on the acting. Writing scripts for other films and not doing as much films as he used to. His next movie is “Escape Plan” with Arnold.

Happy Birthday Sly, and thanks for the inspiration and entertainment you gave us over the years!

Thought: Why “Rocky – The Musical” deserves to happen…

After Rocky – The Musical made it’s successful debut in Hamburg, Germany in 2012, Broadway has gotten the green-light to put the musical in production at the Winter Garden Theater in NYC for the year 2014 — which is obviously, next year! Of course, they had to get Stallone’s blessing, in which he seems to be all for it! While Sly has had a long movie career, it seems that he is most proud of his work with the Rocky movies more than everything else he has done in the past. The character Rocky means so much to Sly for so many reasons. One of the reasons is that the character reminds him so much of his real life. Before Sly’s fame & fortune, he too started off as a nobody just like Rocky in the first movie. Sly was homeless; living in the streets of New York City for a few weeks until he sold the script to “Paradise Alley” for a $100, and then he got his acting start doing adult-porn. Yes, it’s true. Just like Rocky, Sly himself went from zero to hero.

Rocky is not just a boxing movie and Sly always made that pretty clear. It’s about life and moving forward to bigger things. The character also means so much to all of us, which is how the movies got so big and successful. I’ve always loved the first movie. It’s one of my favorite films ever made, and I will never get tired of it — ever. To be quite honest with you, I always looked at the first Rocky movie as something theatrical. Like a play — almost. That’s what the first film felt like.

Bringing that story to the stage is just their way of keeping that legendary story alive. Keep it well known. It’ll help bring more people to the first film. Rocky deserves to be a part of everyone lives ’cause that character is so special. While Sylvester Stallone did so many great action movies, it was Rocky that mattered the most. That’s how I became obsessed with Sly’s movies to begin with. It all started with Rocky. The first Rocky film was Sly’s best acting out of all the films he has done. I wonder if the actor who plays Rocky for the musical will be able to make the acting style similar to Sly’s in the first movie. I’ll have to wait and see for myself.

This is a play I would like to go to NYC for to see. I think this deserves to happen.

More on the story, here.

Film Of The Day: Rambo: First Blood

Alright, time to start doing the Stallone movies, and I’ll start with the first, Rambo. “Rambo: First Blood”, a 1982 action movie that was adapted from the novel by David Morrel, and starring Stallone, Richard Crenna and Brian Dennehy. The story tells a story of a former Green Beret who fought in the Vietnam War. He traveled all the way to Hope, Washington on foot to visit a friend, only to find out that his friend died when he arrived. As Rambo continued to travel on foot, he was approached by the town’s Sheriff who’s name is, Will Teasle. Rambo wanted to go into town for a bite to eat, but instead Teasle drives him out of town. Of course, Rambo refuses to leave town and tries to enter, anyway. Sheriff Teasle ends up arresting him. While in jail, Rambo is tortured by law enforcement. While still being haunted by his Vietman war past, that sends him into a rage where he takes matters at his own hands by escaping. Rambo hides out in the woods to protect himself from the Sheriff and the police who want to kill him. Rambo’s old war friend, Col. Trautman, returns to try to talk Rambo into giving up and turning himself in.

Not only this is one of my favorite Stallone movies ever, this is one of the greatest action movies of all time. The action scenes are pretty breathtaking, all the way. This film also has Sly’s best acting. Of course, Brian Dennehy and Richard Crenna kill it with their acting too. The score is also pretty amazing. Rambo is the type of war hero that you don’t want to mess with. He is a mean killing machine, for sure. This is not just an action movie, it’s about survival, most importantly. I’ve seen the first Rambo movie way too many times. It never gets old. If you want to see why Sly is such an action movie legend, this movie will show you why he matters to so many people. The best scene of the film is where Rambo and Col. Trautman appear on screen for the first time toward the end of the film. That big Rambo speech. The other Rambo films may be okay, but obviously, the original “First Blood” movie will always be the best one. A lot of people should have seen this by now, but if you haven’t, you need to see it.

Sylvester Stallone… could “Bullet to the Head” be a big hit???

So Sly’s new action movie, “Bullet to the Head” directed by Walter Hill, comes out this Friday, and yes, I will probably end up going to check it out. Only thing though, this is the first Sly action film that has nothing to do with Rambo or the Expendables, in a long long while. Before Sly brought Rocky, Rambo back to the big screen, he was in a big career slump. Then after the success of Rocky and Rambo, he brought us the Expendables with two movies.

Could Sly still be the box office king with “Bullet to the Head”? Not so sure about that one, honestly. This film could be a potential bomb. Not saying it will suck, it’s probably gonna be a badass action flick, but I don’t think Sly will be the box office king outside of Rambo & The Expendables. Who knows, though. Maybe, “Bullet” will do good in box office.

Sly has another movie coming out later this year called, “The Tomb”, in which he stars with Arnold.

A lot of people want to mistakenly think that Sly doesn’t care to be a successful actor, but of course, he does. The man works real hard, and he does take his work seriously. When an actor does a movie, you can never tell whether it will be a hit or a bomb. I’ll admit that Sly has made many bad flicks like, “Stop Or My Mom Will Shoot”, “Rhinestone”, “Judge Dredd”, “The Specialist”, “Driven”, etc., but that’s not his fault. The man even admits that he doesn’t like some of the movies he’s starred in as well.

Sly is still my favorite actor. I just think the man is a badass. He looks cool and I enjoy his acting style. The man is an inspiration to me, and I still hope to one day, meet him in person.

Book Review: “Hunter” by James Byron Huggins

Today, I just finished reading, “Hunter”, by James Byron Huggins, which is a science fiction, action thriller, mixed into one. Yes, this is the book where Sylvester Stallone, now owns the rights to. Sly bought the rights to this novel years ago. He was going to make this book into a movie, but he never got it made. Sly recently announced that this will be his next film. He originally was going to make this book into the next, Rambo movie, but he changed his mind. He’s still going to make the film however, I guess he will use the Nathaniel Hunter character, after all, in which, I bet Sly will play. Sly will write, direct, and star in this movie if he ever gets it made.

The plot is simple. The main character, Nathaniel Hunter, is a wilderness survival expert, and he was hired to do a mission where he is supposed to hunt down an inhumane beast in the Arctic Circle.

While I think this is an entertaining book. I have a few complaints. No 1., the story was a bit too predictable. No 2., the book was written like a screenplay instead of a novel, and you can easily tell that the story was strictly written for Sly Stallone. No 3., it kind of rips off Arnold’s “Predator” movie as both have similar plot ideas.

Other than that, “Hunter” was an entertaining read, and will be a good action movie, if Sly doesn’t mess it up. I’ll admit, that Sly is not the best screenwriter and director in the world, so I am kind of skeptical of him doing this project. Hopefully Sly, will do a good job and redeem himself with this movie. I read online that Sly is planning to make this a 3D movie, which is going to be pretty cool ’cause I don’t think Sly has ever directed a 3D movie before, so this will be different for him.

I’ve been wanting to read “Hunter” for years, but the book is hard to find. This book was a borrowed copy from a friend of mine. This wasn’t the best book ever, but I did enjoy the ride. It was a quick page turner.

Report: Nicolas Cage confirmed for “Expendables 3”, they finally got him!!!

Sly has been trying to get actor Nicolas Cage, for the first two “Expendables” movies, but Nic Cage kept turning them down. Well, Nic is finally available, and is a go for “Expendables 3”. They don’t say what character Cage will be playing, whether a hero or a villain, but in my opinion, Cage should play the villain. He would make a great badguy for these movies.

Sly says, he wants Mickey Rourke back for the third one. They are also interested in Harrison Ford, and Wesley Snipes.

Deadline, reports.

Hopefully, they’ll get Kurt Russell soon.

Report: Sly Stallone to re-team with Robert Deniro for new boxing film…

Sly may be all done with the Rocky movies, there’s never gonna be a Rocky 7, but that’s still not stopping him for starring in other boxing movies as a different character! Sly is set to star in a film titled, “Grudge Match”, in which will star comedian Kevin Hart, in the leading role. Sly and Robert Deniro will be co-stars, fighting in a match together for the film. Stallone and Deniro once starred together for the film, “Copland”, back in 1997. What a kick ass idea to have Rocky and Jake in the ring together! I can see why those guys couldn’t pass up this opportunity to fight against each other. It just shows that Sly and Robert, both still has a huge passion for boxing.

Only thing though, this film may not do well in the box office, ’cause nobody cares about boxing anymore. I believe boxing lost it’s popularity ever since UFC got big. Who knows though, maybe this film could help people get interesting in boxing again. I used to be a fan of boxing myself, used to watch it all the time.

Deadline reports.
