Report: Jimmy Fallon, TV actor, occasional film actor, now late night TV talk show host, and college graduate?

You’re never too old to go to college and graduate!! Jimmy Fallon was in town here in Upstate New York. Yes, that would be in Saratoga Springs. He was here at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center today receiving his college degree at his college graduation. Back in his earlier years, he went to college but dropped out to pursue his comedy career. This guy went from being a club standup, to Saturday Night Live TV star, to appearing in many Hollywood films, now he’s got a job as a Late Night TV host taking over Conan O’ Brien.

Here you can see photos of Jimmy Fallon, yes, the REAL Jimmy Fallon you see on TV every night, at SPAC on the stage.

Congratulations to Jimmy! I’m enjoying his “Late Night” show a lot, he’s doing a great job hosting so far, and I haven’t been bored watching his show one bit.

Now that he’s a college graduate, it makes you wonder how much longer he plans to stay as host for “Late Night”? He could decide to leave the show to pursue a job with his degree.

First Angelina Jolie filmed “Salt” in Albany for a day, and now Jimmy Fallon in Saratoga Springs for his college graduation.

It’s nice to see the big stars over here. It’s just proof that celebrities are willing to travel anywhere. At least it shows that they think New York City or Los Angeles isn’t bigger than us.

Film Review: Star Trek

Starring: Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Leonard Nimoy, Eric Bana, John Cho, Karl Urban, Zoey Saldana, Simon Pegg, Bruce Greenwood, Winona Ryder

Directed by: J.J. Abrams

Just got back from seeing the movie, “Star Trek”. I also did a little shopping and picked up a brand new, Samsung, DVD Home Theater surround sound system which kicks ass, hooked it up already and I think the home theater sounds better than the movies at the mall!!!!!

Here is my review of JJ Abrams, “Star Trek” which I’m glad to finally see…

Plot/synopsis: “Star Trek” has been officially rebooted by Paramount, to focus on the earlier days of Trek back in the classic TV series. Since the original cast are now too old to reprise their roles, Paramount had no choice but to sign other young stars.

This film focuses on how the original cast got together for the U.S.S. Enterprise in the Federation. Starting off with how Kirk and Spock grew up, met each other…remember, Kirk and Spock never got along when they first met. They actually hated each other and shows it in this film. The characters of the new cast have similarities of the original TV series. The new Federation crew battle against the evil Nero, played by Eric Bana, who plays an alien called a Romulan. Leonard Nimoy as the adult Spock doesn’t really have a cameo, he’s pretty much in most of the movie.

My thoughts on the film? I think it’s the best “Star Trek” film since “Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country”. I don’t really have much to say about the new “Star Trek” film ’cause I was pretty floored and watched it in awe throughout. I wasn’t bored and thought the film was really amazing, breathtaking. The long wait to see this film was really worth it.

Congratulations to JJ Abrams, that man saved “Star Trek” big time. William Shatner may have missed his chance to star in this one, but I think JJ will get Shat in the next one, definitely.

Whether you’re a “Star Trek” fan or not, you gotta see this. You don’t have to watch the “Star Trek” series or the earlier movies just to see this film. The point of this new film, is to hopefully attract new fans to the “Star Trek” franchise. That’s why they thought it was a good idea to focus on the younger cast in this new one, to get new young fans to “Star Trek”, I agree, it is a good idea that they reboot to a younger cast.

Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto both did wonderful. The young Captain Kirk was a short tempered, womanizing man, which Chris pulled off nicely. Zachary Quinto playing the young spock is almost dead on with the young Spock from the original TV series.

Leonard Nimoy playing the old Spock was amazing acting by Leonard too. Eric Bana as Nero was fuckin’  badass! I think Nero was the best Star Trek villain since Khan! Zoey Saldana is fuckin’ hot, I think I have another celebrity female crush to add to the list. Bruce Greenwood playing Captain Pike was badass as well!

The film was perfect. I loved it all the way through. Great sounds effects, good scoring, good cinematography and special effects. I hope in the sequel, they will battle Klingons in the next one. I think the Klingons is my favorite Star Trek villains. “Star Trek” is a must see for all. Screw “Star Wars”, give “Star Trek” a chance, the “Star Trek” franchise deserves to get popular again and I’m very curious on how this one is going to do in the box office. Check it out! You won’t be dissapointed! I’ll want to see this movie a couple of more times in the theater!

Score for “Star Trek” = **** (4 stars as in “excellent”)

Brock’s 5 Films a Week #3: The sci-fi edition…

In celebration for the new “Star Trek” movie, out in theaters now, which I will see later this afternoon…here’s another week for “5 Films a Week” for those that go out shopping for DVD’s/Blu Ray or renting them at your local video stores. This post is a sci fi edition.

I’ll name 5 good sci-fi films for you to check out when you’re out looking for new DVD’s/Blu Ray’s to get…enjoy…

1. Metropolis (1972, silent film)

(Can’t forget this classic, I’m not into silent films much, but I fuckin’ love this one!)

2. Alien

(Any of them, I love all 4 of the Alien series, tells a great story on Ripley on all of them. Of course, the first one will always be a classic.)

3. Blade Runner

(One of my favorite Harrison Ford films and a good futuristic actioner.)

4. Close Encounters of the Third Kind

(Spielberg did a lot of Sci fi films in his career, I thought this was his best one…)

5. Superman I, II, and III

(I love Superman I, II and III, but didn’t like the fourth one at all. Yes, I thought “Superman III” was a very good movie. I like Richard Pryor being the leading guy in it, plus the film told a unique story. I always think Superman II with the super villains will always be the best one though.)

Report: Church casted for “The Expendables” but will be announced by Sly soon…

Sheryl Main’s Twitter page (Sly’s publicist) announced that the character Church has been casted for the “Expendables”, and expect this one to be a huge surprise…

http://twitter.com/marialascala

My 5 guesses for Church that are pretty likely:

Bruce Willis, Kurt Russell, Tom Cruise, John Travolta, and Dwayne Johnson?

Sly tried to get Kurt Russell in the “Expendables” before, but Russell turned it down and not interested, but that can always change.

As for my pick for Dwayne Johnson, Sly might like the idea of the Rock and Stone Cold starring in the same movie together. Dwayne isn’t a bad choice for a cast addition of “The Expendables”.

I expect movie websites like Variety or The Hollywood Reporter to announce the casting of Church, maybe next week?

Confirmed: Van Halen will be the next to get their own Guitar Hero game!!!

First Aerosmith, now Metallica, and next up confirmed to get their own Guitar Hero game, is Van Halen. While Van Halen is not yet ready to go back in the studio to record a new album, it seems they are ready to make their own Guitar Hero.

I’m sure Van Halen will include all their greatest hits, everything from the David Lee Roth, Sammy Hagar, and Gary Cherone era’s…but I hope they pick some songs that are not played on the radio.

Van Halen has been another favorite of mine for years, so this is another Guitar Hero game I’ll be looking forward to get my hands on.

Other Guitar Hero games confirmed in the works: “DJ Hero”, “Band Hero”, and “Guitar Hero 5”.

Thought: Carrie Prejean should get stripped from the crown for her homosexual comments, but not for her nudie pics…please…*sigh*…

Nudie pics of Miss California or Carrie Prejean or whatever you want to call her have been leaking the internets. While I agree that she should be stripped off the crown for her homosexual comments, she shouldn’t be stripped off the crown for her nudie pics.

Why is this a stupid reason for her to get stripped off the crown ’cause of her nudie pics? The answer is simple.

If you’re going to have a Miss Usa Pageant full of beautiful and sexy women, of course, many of those women would have naked pics. They will get leaked to the internets, sooner or later. Why is it such a big deal that she has nudie pics? Nothing wrong with sexy women having nudie pics is there?

Thanks to Perez Hilton, he made her a popular internet celebrity. Btw, Perez  Hilton needs to admit that he is really straight and Carrie and Perez needs to find a room to bang each other, already!

Report: Jason Statham to star in “The Mechanic”, a Charles Bronson action movie remake…

Jason Statham is set to star in the leading role in the Charles Bronson remake of the action movie, “The Mechanic”. Simon West will direct the pic, and Irwin Winkler/Robert Chartoff will be producing. Irwin Winkler/Robert Chartoff are the makers of the “Rocky” series with Sylvester Stallone. Sylvester was long rumoured to star in the Bronson remake of, “The Mechanic”, Sly talked about it in interviews before but looked like he turned it down. How much do you want to bet Sly reccomended Jason Statham to them? Probably. Simon West will direct, “The Mechanic” remake.

Variety Reports:

Here’s hoping Sly is still going to do “Death Wish” remake he’s been talking about for years?

The game’s company, 3D Realms, who are the longtime makers of the Duke Nukem series is shutting down the business. This means that the making of the upcoming game, “Duke Nukem Forever” will have to come to an end and left unfinished. What does this mean for Duke Nukem? I fucking LOVE the Duke Nukem games, and it would be a shame if it ended. The article says that they plan on continuing with the making and the releasing for the new game, so I hope they are able to release it.
