I'm a musician, singer/songwriter, blogger, writer, poet, bodybuilder, movie lover, music lover, video gamer, history/political buff, conservative/republican, etc. I like to do a lot of things.
63 years ago today, the Day the Music Died when a plane crash killed three young musicians after they played the Winter Dance Party concert at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa. Those musicians were Buddy Holly (22), Ritchie Valens (17) and The Big Bopper J.P. Richardson (28). Buddy and Ritchie were young kids… the Big Bopper was young too but he was a little older than the other two.
I wasn’t even born yet in 1959, lol…. but I’ll never forget and will always honor it every Feb. 3rd like I always try to do. I never listened to the Big Bopper much but I respected his legacy out of this… I do love listening to Buddy and Ritchie more, though.
I would think it had to be a sad day for America and Mexico too, of course. If that crash didn’t happen and these guys lived, I’m sure they would have completed that “Winter Dance Party” tour like they originally planned. If they didn’t get on that plane during a snowstorm then I’m sure things would have turned out differently. I’m a huge fan of Buddy and Ritchie, always loved listening to both of them… and remember if it wasn’t for them then Elvis and the Beatles wouldn’t have happened, in my opinion.
It may be 2022 and it may have happened 63 years ago but we’ll never forget these three. This was pretty much the beginning of “rock n’ roll”, remember that.
Like always, the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame nominees have been having less and less “rock n’ roll” each year. Are they really “anti-rock” like a lot of people been saying? I would say so. We’ve been seeing more rap, country and pop in the Hall of Fame lately, it’s ridiculous. I used to defend the Hall of Shame but not anymore. I’m getting fed up with them myself and it’s much worse this year.
Not much for actual rock n’ roll this year with the exception of Judas Priest, Pat Benatar, Rage Against the Machine, MC5, Duran Duran and the New York Dolls.
Beck is rock n’ roll yes but he’s done just abut every genre… folk, country, rock, rap/hip hop, dance.
Love Dolly but she don’t really belong, in my opinion.
So my picks for inductions would be Judas Priest ’cause they are more rock n’ roll than anything and they are another “rock” band that should have gotten an induction a long time ago. Another long overdue induction. I wouldn’t be surprised that Judas Priest get ignored this year.
I would also have to pick Pat Benatar, she gets nominated a lot but she never gets in… hoping and praying she gets it this year. Yeah, she’s “pop/rock” but her songs are more “rock n’ roll” than anything.
RATM are totally worthy even though I didn’t listen to them much over the years.
I’d also pick Duran Duran ’cause they’re great and totally worthy.
Lionel Ritchie and Eurythmics would get my vote too even though they fall in “pop/rock”.
The New York Dolls is also another long overdue induction that deserves to get in.
I wouldn’t be surprised that the rock bands and artists get ignored again and I’m sure Dolly, Eminem and A Tribe Called Quest will probably get in and not Judas Priest. *sigh*
I’m a huge Judas Priest fan even though I own a couple of albums by them, love their music. I hope they get it this time ’cause that’s another induction that is definitely long overdue. They totally deserve it. I won’t be surprised they get snubbed and you shouldn’t either.
During an interview director Matt Reeves who just helmed “The Batman” which is still scheduled for a March 4th release date in theaters described a little bit of what Ben Affleck’s take on “The Batman” would have been like. Yes, Ben already wrote his script for “The Batman” and handed it to Warner Bros. Since Ben stepped out of directing and acting, Matt Reeves took over the job. Warner Bros. handed Ben’s script of “The Batman” to Matt and Matt decided that he didn’t like it at all.
Matt’s biggest complaint about Ben’s script that it would have been an all out action movie and it was too James Bond-esque and that’s what Matt didn’t want at all. Matt also felt that Ben’s script was very much like DCEU that had other characters from the other films and other comic book stories. Matt didn’t want that either.
Initially WB’s wanted Matt to direct Ben’s script but Matt says “No”, turned down the script and Matt made “The Batman” his own movie instead.
While Matt Reeves take on “the Batman” looks amazing so far, I honestly wanted to see Ben’s take on it. Ben making a Batman movie an all-out action movie would have been awesome.
Ben does have action movie experience believe it or not. Ben has done movies in every genre from drama, action, comedy, thriller and he even done horror a little bit, I think. For action movies Ben starred in action flicks like “The Accountant”, “Reindeer Games”, “Triple Frontier”, “Sum of all Fears” and of course his most popular “The Town” (in which he directed himself). I thought “The Town” was definitely one of his best films anyways. I would think Ben is definitely capable of making a violent Batman flick. I kind of wish Ben hung on but oh well. Ben is not done playing Batman yet as he is going to play the character once more in the upcoming “Flash” movie and that’s it. Ben is moving on and no longer wanting anything to do with Batman after that.
Matt didn’t say but I wonder who the villains would have been in Ben’s version of “The Batman”? It probably wouldn’t have been The Joker but I’m sure Ben picked other villains. I think in the past, Ben teased in an interview that Deathstroke was the main villain in his version so Deathstroke was probably it. Seeing Deathstroke would have been badass.
Anyhow, I’m definitely looking forward to the Matt Reeves “Batman” movie in March and I’ll make sure I’ll be there for that one. I think it looks awesome so far. I love Batman. I’m the biggest Batman superfan you’ll ever see. You should see my Batman collection at home. I have many Batman graphic novels, some Batman comics, many Batman movies and animated stuff on BluRay. Only thing I don’t have yet is the 1966 Batman TV show BluRay set and the Burton/Schumacher movies of Batman but I’m gonna getting around to getting those soon to complete my collection.
All day long the news and social media were going off on this Joe Rogan vs. Neil Young feud that just started. Neil Young, the legendary singer/songwriter (who I am a fan of myself) sends out a public threatening letter to Spotify to take his entire music catalouge off the platform simply because he didn’t want to be on the same platform as podcaster, Joe Rogan is on. Neil accuses Rogan of spreading misinformation about “covid-19” and “vaccines” without going into specifics and didn’t provide examples of how Joe is wrong on things.
I think it took Spotify a few days to do it, so they just did it… took Neil’s music off the platform. I think they only did it ’cause they did it out of fear of a possible “lawsuit” or something?
Anyway, Joe did nothing wrong as I’m just hearing that he just tells the truth and talks his opinions about covid, the pandemic and vaccines which he has every right to… ’cause this is America right? I also believe that Joe Rogan is getting attacked and hated on like crazy simply cause he found other ways to quickly recover from covid other than the vaccine. Joe found on his own other ways to recover quickly than what the media says and now everyone thinks Joe is a bad man?
So what if Joe is wrong about the things he says about covid is wrong? Does he deserve all this backlash, hatred and bullying from the media and the liberal left? No, he absolutely didn’t deserve all this backlash he’s getting. He got covid and found his own way to recover from it, how does that make him a bad person? The answer is people just can’t take the truth that there are other ways to recover from covid than what the media is teaching you.
I thought this was the United States of America? What happened to Freedom of Expression? If you want to believe that vaccines and masks work like sheep that’s fine. That’s your right to believe that but it’s also other people’s right to disagree with you. This is just typical left-wing behavior, nothing new… them attacking others ’cause they disagreed with them. It’s all part of the Saul Alinsky playbook. Nothing to see here.
Anyhow, what is Neil Young’s problem with Joe? Neil Young is an artist that nobody cares about anymore… I mean, Neil has only 6 million listeners in Spotify which technically is not good and that’s proof of it. Joe Rogan himself has more than 11 million listeners and tons of subscribers so what’s Neil’s problem? Jealous much?
I love Neil Young’s music and still do but at the same time, I think the guy is an arrogant asshole and always has been. I still do listen to Neil Young music but I’m allowed to disagree with him.
Joe is entitled to his opinions and beliefs. He’s allowed to say what he wants. Joe is a leftist guy himself but he has some right-wing opinions so I see Joe as a centrist kind of guy. His political views are mixed and I’m okay with that.
I’m a big podcast listener myself and I’ve listened to some of Joe’s show before.
In the past, I was writing dark songs and writing lyrics in songs that made some people uncomfortable and offended some listeners. I used to feel bad about that and vowed to only write family/friendly and positive songs but after thinking about it a long while, I never had to. I’ve just learned recently that you don’t have to apologize for your art. I’ve learned that art was never meant to make people feel comfortable to begin with even in music. Art doesn’t apologizes and it’s true.
When you write songs and make music, you can write music the way you want to and how you want to. I think the best music is when songwriters write music like that. Some songs maybe very dark and unsettling for some but sometimes that’s the best music you’ll ever hear.
So many bands & artists today wrote lyrics how they wanted, didn’t matter how dark they were. That’s why so many bands & artists make albums with a “parental advisory” warning on them. Not only metal bands wrote songs the way they wanted but artists of any genre.
If you want to write songs full swearing and bad language go ahead. You want to write songs about dark stuff and want to to go on angry rants about something, go ahead. Want to write songs about sex and other uncomfortable topics, go ahead.
That’s the beauty of songwriting is the freedom… being able to write whatever you want, no holds barred anything goes. Use lyric writing as a way to speak your mind about stuff.
If I ever get back to songwriting, I’ll just continue to make songs the way I want to.
Some may feel offended and question your songwriting but at the same time there will be some that will love your stuff. You’ll never know who’s been listening to you. Sometimes the dark and controversial lyrics actually helps some listeners so they become a fan for that reason.
Anyways, my darker songs almost always got the most “listeners” than the positive/happy stuff. Take that for what you will. I guess, I don’t regret writing my older songs and glad I wrote them.
I need to write a new batch of songs ’cause it’s been a while. Itching for new stuff myself.
The Jaliek Rainwalker missing child case has been going on for 14 years… it may seem pretty quiet right now but not really. While I can’t talk about all the things going on behind the scenes of the Jaliek Rainwalker case, what I am allowed to talk about publicly now is that the case has been handed over to the New York State Police aka the NYSP. Yes, you heard that right, New York State Police Troop G is now fully leading the investigation. The NYSP has been investigating this case for a while now. When Chief George Bell passed on, there was no one leading the case until now.
There’s lots of “good” things happening right under our noses when I’m sure most of you don’t even realize. Again, I can’t talk about most of the stuff happening as we continue to investigate behind the scenes and very “low” key. I work on the case along with a group of people and we all work on the case with the “Cold Case Analysis Center” for the College Of St. Rose. We work with a professional college professor who works on “missing persons” cases. The Cold Case Center professor works very closely with the NYSP on this case as well.
We’re now allowed to talk about the NYSP investigating the Jaliek Rainwalker case ’cause they want to go public with it finally and they want us to announce it. So I’m honored to be the one to announce the NYSP Troop G has taken the case.
If you come across this blog post and if you happen to have any information at all about the missing person case Jaliek Rainwalker, I don’t care about big or how small the info is, even the smallest info helps… contact the NYSP in the link here…. Troop G – Zone 2.
Some of you may look at this blog post and say, “this guy is full of crap”… well I am telling you, the NYSP being in full charge 100% of the Jaliek investigation is the real deal. You’ll find out soon enough when the local news media start picking up on it.
Well, I’ll tell you something I’m in 100% support of this, NYSP taking the lead and I trust they’ll do a very good job and help get the “closure” this case desperately needs. This case has been open for 14 years and it’s still an ongoing investigation even to this day. It doesn’t matter how long ago it happened, Jaliek’s life matters and he deserves his justice. We aren’t going away until Jaliek is found and this person or persons (if more than one did it) are all locked up and behind bars. Jaliek did not run away and we all know someone or some people did it.
This is not an accusatory post at a certain someone ’cause I’m sure we all know who’s responsible and we all know who did it (the crime), the announcement post is about Jaliek and the NYSP. The NYSP is a pretty big deal.
If you’re new to this case and want to learn more about the facts and circumstances surrounding it, the case is just a google away. There’s plenty of podcasts and videos that will educate you pretty well on it. Do your research on it.
One day Jaliek will get his long overdue justice and those responsible will be held accountable. We aren’t going away and we won’t quit. I’ll never turn my back on Jaliek no matter what anyone says or thinks. Believe it or not, he still has plenty of family and friends that still care and love him, this is why we do what we do.
We’re working extremely hard to get to the bottom of this case and get long overdue “closure”. It’s a slow and difficult battle but the fight for Jaliek will never stop . It ain’t over until it’s over.
I think we had 10 year challenges trends that popped up in social media before and here we go again. I hardly ever do these dumb social media trends ’cause most of ’em are silly but I decided to participate in this one.
Trying not to sound egotistical, I’m even admittedly impressed with myself with these before and after photos. I haven’t changed much in 10 years at all except that I’ve gotten slightly bigger in ten years. That’s because of over 10 years of bodybuilding training and then I started doing powerlifting training a couple of years ago. I would have to say that powerlifting training definitely helped my physique.
My chest is finally shaping up and getting somewhere… probably ’cause of all the bench pressing that I’ve been doing for the past couple of years and all the dumbbell work that I’ve been doing for chest. I remember in the past, I was struggling to grow my chest more but now I’m starting to get the look I want. I’m starting to look like a bodybuilder I would say.
I liked my latest progress pic so I had to participate in “10 year challenge”. Enjoy.
I love what I do. Weightlifting is my second passion other than music. I’ll never give it up no matter what anyone says or thinks.
Last Friday was Bowie’s birthday and today is his 6th year Anniversary death. I’ve been a long time Bowie fan ever since high school really. Over the years, I’ve tried to collect all of his albums and it took me a long time ’cause he has a large discography of albums… only need a few more left.
Some wonder what Bowie was like in the studio? After doing a lot of reading on him in his studio work over the years, I’ve read he was very nice. He wasn’t difficult to get along with but he kept everything honest, though. He knew what he was going for in his music. Did he write most of his own songs? Yes for the most part, I read he brought a lot of his own material but at the same time, he let his other guitar players and other musicians come up with their own stuff. If David liked their playing, he’ll take it into his songs. So in reality, it was both David and the musicians in his band wrote the music, they all wrote together really.
Not only that I like listening to Bowie music, I also loved reading about him too. I’ve read that if you actually got to meet Bowie in person, while he was pretty a nice guy, he’ll be very boring. He doesn’t like people fanboying over him and he was never one for autographs much, I think. He always stayed humbled and never saw himself as a rock star. He just wanted to live like a normal person and be a family man, ya know?
Bowie was a huge inspiration and influence into my own songwriting too, though… if you heard my original songs, you would probably hear a lot of Bowie influence.
I’ll never get tired of Bowie music ever. Initially, I just wanted to be a guitar player but the singing came after and it was Bowie that got me interested in singing myself after I picked up the guitar.
Bowie maybe gone but the music will never be. His art will always be around.
Jimmy Page is the reason why I do what I do, playing guitar and making music. I’ve always been a music lover but my interest in guitar playing myself didn’t pick up until I heard the music of Led Zeppelin. Once I discovered Led Zep, I knew I wanted to play guitar my whole life. I wanted to play rock guitar like Jimmy Page and if you ever wanted to know why my own guitar playing is always so tight and aggressive, well mostly because Jimmy Page inspired me to rock out like that.
I may like a lot of music out there but Led Zep will always be my no. 1.
Last night, I went to a live WWE show called, “WWE Supershow” in Glens Falls NY at Cool Insuring Arena, I think it’s called.
I don’t go see live wrestling a lot but I do when I can. I love watching live wrestling. It is definitely way more fun watching pro wrestling live in an arena than watching it on TV for sure.
The goal for the WWE Supershow to have shows that features both RAW & Smackdown rosters having matches on the same show. Given by the title, “Supershow” that means a show full of the biggest stars on both rosters.
I had a blast last night. It was a good time seeing all the current talent you see on WWE TV week after week performing live in person. Pretty much all the huge stars were there: Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens, Roman Reigns, Sheamus, etc. Crazy but fun. Even all the newer talent were there. Bobby Lashley made a surprise appearance even though he wasn’t listed in the card.
Most of the matches were “so and so” but it didn’t matter… it was still a blast seeing all the current stars live.
Now that live entertainment came back after a lockdown, it was refreshing for me to go out and see a live show ’cause I definitely needed that.
This is what professional wrestling is all about. That’s what wrestling is here for. It’s all about the live show, ya know? That’s why wrestlers do what they do, perform in front of crowds.
Here were the results from last night if anyone cares:
I did buy something from the merch table. I bought an RKBro shirt which is the name of a tag team that has Randy Orton and Matt Riddle in it. I’m a fan of that tag team now so I bought their shirt. Randy Orton wasn’t there last night but Matt Riddle was to have a singles match.
It’s good to go out and see live entertainment whether a pro wrestling show or a live concert. I would love to go see a rock concert at some point but a lot of venues are “vax only” and I vow to never get vaccinated so thankfully WWE isn’t super strict on “vaccines”.
It was a fun night last night, though and it was a great time seeing all the current stars including Roman Reigns and the Usos who is known as a faction called The Bloodline.
WWE events are a good event to take your kids ’cause there were kids all over last night. WWE continues to be family friendly but still fun. I continue to be a wrestling fan and not ashamed of it. I’ve been a wrestling fan ever since I was a child to be honest. Never gave up on it.
