Slayer finally hits the studio to record their 11th album!!!

Slayer revealed with this photo that they are in the studio recording their 11th new album which maybe released sometime in 2015. As you can see, that is the back of Kerry King’s bald head. Slayer haven’t recorded a new album since 2009’s “World Painted Blood” so yeah, it’s been a long while since they recorded new material.

I’m a really big Slayer fan. They’re an awesome band but I’m kind of skeptical of what they’re gonna sound like without their longtime guitarist and founder, Jeff Hanneman on guitar. As some of you already know, Jeff passed away not too long ago, RIP btw. I’ve got 4 of their albums and still got more of their albums to get, though.

They’re a fun band to listen to. I’ve always enjoyed listening to them. Hopefully the band still has it without Jeff. Jeff was an important member of Slayer ’cause he wrote most of the band’s material over the years so Slayer’s writing maybe a little different now. I’ll wait to hear a few songs off of the new album and then I’ll make a decision on whether or not I’ll get it. I’m sure they’re gonna stream the whole album online before it’s released, I’ll listen to it then.

Neil Young files divorce from Pegi Young after 36 years of marriage…

I’m not into celebrity gossip and marriage/divorce news but I thought this news would be worth passing along. This could affect the “Bridge School” benefit concerts that Neil and Pegi are both in charge of.

Some of you may wonder why the divorce after many years of marriage? Well… I’m almost pretty positive that Neil is gonna write a song or a whole album about it. Neil wrote tons of songs about Pegi over the years, I’m sure.

Maybe they have nothing against each other and the divorce was amicable??? Maybe Neil just wants to focus on his career more and just doesn’t have the time for marriage???

I’m not a big fan of Neil’s liberal politics but I’m a huge fan of his music, though. He’s a great singer, songwriter and guitarist. I’ve been listening to Neil Young for years.

Some of you may ask, why is Neil’s divorce news? Well, Pegi is a musician and has a career too and that’s probably why. It’s pretty obvious though that the only reason she has a music career is ’cause Neil helped get it going for her

John Mayer quick to respond to Jason Becker’s Ice Bucket Challenge…

While I’m not a big fan of John Mayer’s pop songwriting, I’m not ashamed to admit that he’s a great guitar player, though. Before John Mayer dumped water on his head, he played guitar along to one of Jason Becker’s songs. It can’t be denied that John is a great lead guitar player as you can see here. John can really play. In John’s playing here, you hear the passion and confidence in his playing. John really shows his passion in guitar playing too which you don’t see much in guitar players.

I wish John would quit writing pop songs and just make instrumentals. I think he would make a great instrumental album.

Lets see if EVH and David Lee Roth would respond to it. I’m sure they will and they will make it entertaining, I’m sure.

I would like to play one of Jason Becker’s songs myself but I’m not that kind of guitar player yet. I’m working my way up there, though.

MTV VMA’s last night…

Last night, after watching 4 episodes of “Dr. Who” The 9th Doctor with Chris Eccleston, I’ve decided to catch the rest of the MTV VMA’s. I did catch a few live performances. I caught the Iggy and Rita Ora performance which was great. I caught Taylor Swift performing “Shake It Off” which was great. I also caught the ending… Beyonce’s performance and I wanted to talk about that a little bit…

I’ve noticed that Beyonce was onstage for quite a while. They gave her a lot of stage time than any other artists. Of course, when it comes to Beyonce, they have to bring in gossip and drama into it by bringing Jay Z and their daughter, Blue Ivy into things for more ratings and more attention. Of course, they were gonna have Beyonce and Jay-Z close out the show with a long boring performance. Yes, they did it to squash divorce rumors but that didn’t need to be a part of the show. The whole point about the VMA’s is about celebrating music, not their personal lives but of course, it’s MTV so what do you expect??? MTV was willing to let Beyonce squash divorce rumors with Jay-Z on TV ’cause they know the internet and social networking will be all over it.

If you wanna know what kind of bullshit that MTV was going to try to pull with the VMA’s last night, that was it. The Beyonce and Jay-Z thing. Typical MTV. Nothing to see here, move along. *sigh*

I’m tired of the industry shoving this couple in our faces. They are not the hottest couple in music… Johnny Cash and June Carter were.

Mainstream music today really is a joke… although I do like a few artists of today’s mainstream. Iggy is one of them and I like Lorde too.

I’m not a fan of Beyonce although her performance last night was funny to watch.

I’m not surprised by the Suge Knight and Chris Brown shooting…

I don’t care how big, famous and legendary Suge Knight is. The guy is a criminal and a lowlife loser with so many problems. Even though that party was hosted by Chris Brown, I wouldn’t exactly blame the shooting on Chris Brown though. When you have a big party full of celebrities, rappers and music stars and Suge Knight is there… you should be prepared for a big shoot out. Everywhere Suge Knight goes there’s trouble. The guy has dealt with so much violence and crime over the years… which goes way back to the deaths of rappers 2PAC and Notorious B.I.G. I can’t understand why they would invite Suge Knight to that party to begin with. If he wasn’t there, I’m sure there wouldn’t have been any violence. Again, I’m not blaming Chris Brown… it’s all about Suge. I never liked the guy and you shouldn’t trust him.

I can’t understand why Suge gets so much support from fans and all that stuff when he has done so many bad things over the years. The guy’s a drug addict, a woman beater and all kinds of problems.

The new Taylor Swift song, “Shake It Off” is surprisingly good… I’m digging it!!!

I know some of you are gonna think to yourself, “Oh no, Taylor Swift has gone pop!”. Sorry to say, y’all but Taylor Swift has always been a pop artist. She’s just taking things to different directions this time and going old-school with her music. Her next album is titled, “1989” and it’s going to have pop songs with an 80’s style. Old school pop music. I can see where she’s going with her new batch of songs.

Her new song, “Shake It Off” reminds me very much like Toni Basil’s “Mickey”.

Which is funny, ya know… I was just starting to dislike Taylor Swift. I used to be a fan and had a few of her earlier albums but I stopped supporting her and stopped buying her music again. The last couple of albums she’s been releasing lately hasn’t been my cup of tea.

I think she just won my respect again with her new song, “Shake It Off”. I listened to the song like 3 or 4 times straight. I think the song is surprisingly good. It’s fun and catchy to listen to. Reminds me of the old days of 80’s pop music. You don’t hear pop music like this anymore. This is the kind of stuff that you’ll probably hear at a high school dance party.

I really dig the song. Will I get the new album? Not sure yet. I’ll wait to hear more songs off of it and then I’ll think about it.

Scott Weiland shoots down jail rumors…

TMZ started the rumors that former frontman of STP, Scott Weiland have been in jail for a few months and as you can see, Mr. Weiland was quick to shoot down the rumors. He proved that he wasn’t arrested by showing this video of him in the studio with his new band, The Wildabouts.

Look like Harvey Levin of TMZ is about to get “cease and desist letters” from Scott’s attorneys.

I hate TMZ. They are a bunch of loser whackjobs who needs to find a real job. Yep, getting paid to make celebrities look bad publicly. TMZ needs to be shut down.

I’m glad Scott is well, though and he is looking real good and healthy in this video too.

Look like he is recording his first album with the Wildabouts band. He’s been playing live with the Wildabouts for a long while now, they just never recorded a studio album yet until now.

Scott Weiland may have had some personal problems in the past but people change. Why can’t people understand that? Nope. People always have to accuse him of a lot of ridiculous things.

Ron Howard does the Ice Bucket at the Abbey Road crosswalk…

Film director, Ron Howard, is signed on recently to direct a documentary about, The Beatles. Here is Ron Howard himself in London at Abbey Road studios. Then he takes a little walk over to the legendary crosswalk where the Beatles crossed the street to shoot the cover for their album, “Abbey Road”.

Then he makes a few challenges to his longtime collaborator, Tom Hanks and his former co-star, Henry Winkler. Remember, Ron started out as an actor for the TV sitcom, “Happy Days” in which he played Archie Cunningham and then he gave up acting to direct movies instead.

I like Ron Howard. He’s a great film-maker. He’s made a lot of great movies. The latest movie I saw of his was the race car movie, “Rush” and it was a great film. You should check it out.

While the media is obsessed with the ice bucket challenge, everyone ignores musician Jason Becker (who is currently suffering ALS)…

Jason Becker is a shred-guitar virtuoso who is currently suffering of ALS. While the media is obsessed with the Ice Bucket Challenge and trying to raise awareness to the ALS disease, the media ignores musician Jason Becker. I haven’t seen one celebrity or famous musician give a shout-out or some kind of tribute to Jason Becker have you?

Jason was diagnosed with ALS at the early age of 20. Just before he was diagnosed with ALS, Jason joined David Lee Roth’s solo band. In the early days, Jason was given 3 to 5 years to live but Jason fought on… he’s a fighter so he’s still alive. Due to ALS, Jason can’t move his body and lost his ability to speak. Even if he can’t speak, he is still able to communicate with people with a technology system developed by his father. Although, Jason can’t play guitar anymore… he is still making music. He is still making shred instrumentals and releasing albums ’cause he’s probably really good with music theory and stuff like that.

I’m thinking that instead of me dumping ice over my head on video… I would do a tribute video to Jason Becker. I’ll get to work on that today.

Here’s to you, Jason Becker. \m/
